Minor Arcana's Wands – The Numbered Cards (II)

Minor Arcana’s Wands are active and dynamic, and represent energy, inspiration, and creative force. They are considered less powerful than their counterparts – the Major Arcana cards, but are very important in the composite picture. The numbered cards are from Ace to Ten.

Six of Wands – It stands for victory and conquest. Some of the cards that reinforce the qualities of the Six of Wands are: the Chariot and the Sun (Major Arcana cards), and the Nine of Cups. Some cards that oppose the Six of Wands are: Tower (Major Arcana card), the Five of Pentacles, Five of Cups, and the Ten of Swords.

The appearance of this card during a reading of the Tarot cards is an indication that success is within your grasp. This is the time for the long sought and well deserved honors. You have done all that is required to achieve your goals, and the time has finally arrived. It is not necessarily an indication of ‘victory’ over others; it could mean a victory over self, over the environs.

Seven of Wands – It stands for defiance, defense, and valor. It is about aggression and conviction. Some of the cards that reinforce the qualities of the Seven of Wands are: Five of Wands, Nine of Wands, and the Five of Swords. Some cards that oppose the Seven of Wands are: High Priestess and Hanged Man (Major Arcana cards), and the Three of Pentacles.

The Seven of Wands could be an indication of conflict, though some are worth fighting. Such conflicts will serve a purpose, and you need to defend with boldness and aggression. This card asks you to take a stand. But first, you must believe in yourself and in your position.

Eight of Wands – It stands for communication, travel, and speed. Some of the cards that reinforce the qualities of the Eight of Wands are: Magician, Wheel of Fortune, and Death (Major Arcana cards); and the Eight of Cups. Some cards that oppose the Eight of Wands are: High Priestess (Major Arcana card), the Seven of Pentacles, and the Four of Swords.

The appearance of the Eight of Wands during a reading is an indication that everything is going right for you, as long as you act fast. It is also an indication that some good news is on the way. You may need to stay alert as the news could be disguised.

Nine of Wands – It stands for resilience, and resistance. Some of the cards that reinforce the qualities of the Nine of Wands are: Strength (Major Arcana card); and Seven of Wands, Two of Swords, and the Eight of Pentacles. Some cards that oppose the Nine of Wands are: Three of Cups, Six of Cups, and the Eight of Cups.

This card is an indication that you could get hurt. Though you may have gone through rough times and are hurt, you are still not down! Another quality of this card is resilience. Despite setbacks, you have the resilience to persist. You need to keep on going, irrespective of everything.

Ten of Wands – The keywords of this card are burden, overwork, and oppression. Some of the cards that reinforce the qualities of the Ten of Wands are: Justice (Major Arcana card); and Five of Wands, Six of Swords, Nine of Swords, and the Five of Pentacles. Some cards that oppose the Ten of Wands are: Fool and Hanged Man (Major Arcana cards); Four of Wands, Four of Swords, and the Seven of Swords.

The card may be indicating you are pushing yourself too hard, and may need to take things easy. This is the time to lighten the burden.
